Maple Street has evolved so much over the years: from a small brownstone school to our flourishing community bordering the park at two locations! It’s always a good time though to stop and appreciate where we came from and the wonderful people who have shaped this school. Thank you to Peggy and our Maple Street Matriarchs for coming together to share some really wonderful stories ❤️

In the Toads classroom we are learning about saws! What are they? How do they work? We learned the word “serrated” when using tape dispensers and we know now some cutting tools have teeth. We heard the word “saw” when we ran into fire fighters and park employees and asked them what kind of cutting tools they use. We weren’t really sure what they are, but we wanted to know. So we brought in a couple of kid safe saws to cut cardboard, and we are learning about and pretending to be construction workers! 🔨🪚🥽
Maple Street family came together to celebrate love, community, and the powerful stories of Black History Month.
We heard about three real-life superheroes — Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks, and Harriet Tubman — who stood up when things weren’t fair. Even when others were unkind because of the color of their skin, they used their voices and their courage to make the world kinder and more just.
Their messages were simple and powerful:
✨ “It’s not fair.”
✨ “Stop, I don’t like that!”
✨ “Let’s go — come with me!”
Words we can ALL use when we see something that isn’t right. Speak up. Stand together. Choose kindness.
We wrapped up by singing our Maple Street original song “Black Lives Matter” (written by Peggy!) and, of course, celebrating Peggy with a big Happy Birthday! 🎉

Family Share at Maple Street
Our classroom was buzzing with excitement during Family Share!
Family Share is a special time when parents visit and teach us about something they know a lot about — and we learned so much!
We explored creative brushstrokes, discovered how airplanes fly, felt the rhythm of drums, and even learned all about eggs and where they come from!
There’s nothing more meaningful than seeing our families step into the classroom and share their passions. Thank you to everyone who made this experience so engaging, hands-on, and memorable for our students.
Learning is even better when we learn together!
