As we celebrate Independence Day, we reflect on the ideals of liberty, opportunity, and equal access—principles that continue to guide ASAT's mission every day.
We believe that every autistic person and every family deserves access to accurate, evidence-based information, regardless of where they live, the color of their skin, the language they speak, or the resources available in their community. That commitment extends across the entire autism spectrum, including individuals with profound autism and those with the most significant support needs, whose voices and experiences or are often overlooked but must remain part of the conversation.
We also recognize that disparities in access to quality services, reliable information, and effective supports continue to affect many communities, including communities of color, rural communities, underserved populations, and families facing economic barriers. Advancing science is only meaningful if its benefits are accessible to everyone.
On this Fourth of July, we reaffirm our commitment to scientific integrity, compassionate advocacy, and ensuring that evidence-based information reaches all who need it. We celebrate the freedom to seek truth, challenge misinformation, and work toward a future where every individual with autism—and every family—is supported with dignity, respect, and opportunity.

As our nation marks its anniversary, NYCPS is helping students explore our country’s history and ongoing story through civic learning.

By teaching about our country’s past and reflecting on its present, we empower students to shape the future.

This week, NYCPS launched Teaching America 250: Voices Then, Voices Now, an educator institute developed in partnership with preeminent cultural institutions that explores the significance of the American founding.
