NYU Schack Institute of Real Estate professor Suhail Y Tayeb has written a piece for Commercial Observer on why the biggest constraint on the booming data center industry isn’t demand or capital, but trust.
"If the industry wants to regain legitimacy, it needs to start answering the right question.
It means large energy users operating under dedicated rate structures that prevent cost shifting. It means minimum take agreements that ensure infrastructure investments are paid for. It means binding community benefit agreements that specify local hiring and investment. It means clear disclosure of water sourcing and usage. It means enforceable noise standards and limits on backup generation."

NYU Schack Institute of Real Estate adjunct assistant professor Constantine Korologos has been quoted in Commercial Observer on cryptocurrency and the commercial real estate market
"'One of the good things about real estate is the value of a building isn’t swinging back and forth like a share price during a volatile market, but present value versus future expectations changes all the time, which impacts longer-term market value,' he explained, before tackling essentially the complete lack of regulation around the cryptocurrency space."

NYU Schack Institute of Real Estate professor Scott Robinson is quoted in Dakin Campbell's Business Insider story on data center startup Fermi.
"Scott Robinson, director of the REIT Center at NYU's Schack Institute of Real Estate, said investors would likely demand a lower stock price to protect themselves.
Robinson said REIT risk would make him leery of Fermi stock. 'I would probably want to buy that stock at a discount to account for that uncertain economic outcome if they don't get their REIT ruling,' he said."
