ELM Community Charter School

Started as sketches in notebooks, then pushed further—traveling across Manhattan and Elmhurst, studying other artists, revising our ideas, and voting as a grade to narrow it down. The final mural blends our top concepts into one piece.
It reflects how we work as a team—holding onto challenges, learning from them, and turning them into something stronger. The heart marks who we are individually, and what happens when we come together to build something bigger than any one of us. 🎨🖌️

🌵🌿 First grade has been exploring North American biomes as part of their Humanities unit! During their visit to the botanical gardens, students experienced both desert and rainforest biomes firsthand, comparing plants and discovering the amazing adaptations that help them survive in different environments.
Our young researchers investigated, observed, and learned so much — and they’ll be using their discoveries in their upcoming Biomes Exhibition! 🌎✨

🌸 Our 5th graders continued their learning journey with a beautiful visit to the Botanical Garden! Surrounded by incredible plant life, learners explored biodiversity, discovered how ecosystems thrive, and deepened their connection to nature. It was a day filled with curiosity, exploration, and meaningful outdoor learning. 🌿🌼

Exploring science in action! 🧪 Our 5th graders investigated chemical reactions as part of their matter unit, observing how substances change while mass remains constant—an important principle known as the law of conservation of mass. Through hands-on experiments, students developed their understanding of how matter behaves and transforms.
