National Tap Dance Day is on Monday, May 25, 2026. This annual celebration honors the American art form of tap dancing and the birthday of legendary tapper Bill “Bojangles” Robinson. Events around the country include workshops, performances and community tap jams.

AMDA NY is excited to celebrate this year with a day of tap on Saturday, May 23, 2026. Featuring classes in Broadway, Precision, and Rhythm tap with some of our talented educators, this day is sure to offer something for everyone. Other events include a tap jam with live music, a viewing of famous tap moments in history and closing out the day with the Shim Sham Shimmy, regarded as tap dance’s national anthem.

This day of dance is open to current students, faculty, staff, and alumni* and promises to be a day full of fun, laughter, and community!

Nominations for the 2026 Drama League Awards have been announced, with several AMDA graduates, and productions featuring AMDA talent both onstage and behind the scenes, earning recognition for their work on Broadway and Off-Broadway this season. Winners will be announced at a ceremony on May 15 at the Ziegfeld Ballroom in NYC.
