Sotheby’s January Term: Inside the Art Market allows undergraduate students to gain firsthand insight into the global art market through an intensive two-week course in New York City.
Through a combination of expert-led seminars, site visits, and insights from industry professionals, students in this course will explore how the international art market operates and how artworks are valued, bought, sold, collected, and exhibited.
They will visit galleries, museums, auction houses, artists’ studios, and other major cultural institutions across New York City while examining key art business topics including. Real-world experiences connect classroom concepts to the day-to-day operations of the contemporary art world.
