THE CAT CIRCUS IS COMING TO BROOKLYN
FIRST THREE WEEKENDS IN NOVEMBER

Reckless Tricycle is a young company interested in clowns, animals, dark farces, and dumb ideas turned beautiful. Although we have assigned roles for each project, we each consider ourselves theater makers. Our designers are also performers, our performers are also writers, our cats are also full grown men. This makes for a joyful rehearsal room, and (we hope), a more exciting product. We have wor
ked together in various configurations at Vassar College on projects like The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui, Martin Crimps' Attempts on Her Life, and disturbing stories about artificially intelligent sex dolls. Previously by Reckless Tricycle:
Vera & Valya & The Magical One Cat Circus
November 3 to 19th and Standard Toykraft, 722 Metropolitan Avenue
Produced by The Tank NYC. Presented by Reckless Tricycle, Nadja Leonhard-Hooper, Artistic Director. Vera and Valya, the most bewitching sister act in Yaroslavl, are determined to make their magical cat, Skazka, the toast of Moscow’s Cat Circus. But can the circus master who wants to take Skazka to the big time be trusted? And is their pussy strictly legal? Nobody in Yaroslavl is necessarily quite who they appear to be, not even the werewolves This fractured and funny fable draws on age-old Russian fairytales and Ionesco-fueled absurdity, to create an unmooring and uplifting fantasy of shifting identities teased by frolicsome, feline ambition. Weaving together Russian folklore, live music & animal acrobatics, Vera & Valya & The Magical One Cat Circus is a new kind of Furry-Tale. From the Press:
"BOTTOM LINE: A top-quality farce about two Russian sisters and their strange magical cat Skazka, played by an amazing trio of actors"
-Theater is Easy, Best Bet
"I joyously cackled throughout this brilliant play and cheered for a spectacular performance."
-Theater is Easy
"From the moment accordionist Charley Layton starts the show until the full-cast dance finale, the crew from Reckless Tricycle (including stars Sarah Traisman as Vera and Collin Knopp-Schwyn as Skazka) will have you laughing out loud at their corny puns, realistic cat-impersonating antics and the requisite cat-themed double entendres (even more hilarious with exaggerated Russian accents)"

HELLO BLOGSTERS It is we, Vera & Valya, reviewing our latest review!!

"With such a clusterf**k of events and such a small stage the situation could easily spin out of control, but with this excellent cast, the humor only increases with each side-splitting scene."

Thank you to photographer Pete Thorn for helping tubby cats break into the industry! We applaud this very important work.
Wow, we made our goal with 10 days to go! Thank you SO MUCH for making this production possible. Our basic costs are now covered! We can reliably pay for our rehearsal space and build a cat friendly set. Since we have time left in our kickstarter, we want to set a STRETCH GOAL of $3500. Here’s what we can do with that money:
1. We can reliably create the best little world this show could possibly live in. This includes top tier fake grass, covert gym mats for Acrobatics Without Bruises (our new non-profit), and of course, environmentally responsible fake mustache adhesive.
2. We can pay our artists more than $2.6 per hour! Our original goal was to be able to give everyone creatively involved in this process a $200 stipend. Between rehearsal and performance hours, that comes out to just under $3 an hour. That. Could be better! Help us make it better.
