Columbia GSAPP is hosting a Career Fair on February 21, 2025. This event gives your organization the opportunity to meet and recruit students from all Columbia GSAPP Programs. We are seeking employers who expect to have open full-time positions for Spring 2025 and open internships for Summer 2025. If you are not recruiting during this time frame, please feel free to contact us for other student engagement opportunities.
Our Career Fair offers your organization a chance to have information sessions with groups of students, meet with them one-on-one, as well as the ability to review resumes, work samples, and portfolios. We encourage you to be available for a minimum of 3 hours during the event so you may be able to meet as many students as possible.

The Fitch Fellowships are now accepting applications for 2025 Funding. Applicants may apply for one of three available grants: the FITCH Mid-Career Fellowship, the Robert SILMAN Award, and the Samuel H. KRESS Mid-Career Fellowship.
Since 1989, the James Marston Fitch Charitable Foundation has been in the vanguard of historic preservation practice and theory. The mission of the Fitch Foundation is to support professionals in the field of historic preservation, and to achieve this we provide mid-career grants to those working in preservation, landscape architecture, urban design, environmental planning, materials conservation, decorative arts, architectural design and history, and allied fields.
FITCH MID-CAREER FELLOWSHIP: One research grant of up to $15,000 may be awarded to a mid-career professional who has an academic background, professional experience and an established identity in one or more of the following fields: historic preservation, architecture, landscape architecture, urban design, environmental planning, architectural history and the decorative arts. The James Marston Fitch Charitable Foundation will consider proposals for the research and/or the ex*****on of the preservation-related projects in any of these fields.
ROBERT SILMAN AWARD: One award up to $15,000 may be awarded to an engineer, architect or other design professional in a related field for a proposal exploring the preservation, restoration, or adaptive reuse of the built environment, in the spirit of Robert Silman (1935-2018). The proposal must advance the art and practice of preservation in the United States.
SAMUEL H. KRESS MID-CAREER FELLOWSHIP: Research grants of up to $15,000 may be awarded to a mid-career professional whose research aligns with the mission of the Samuel H. Kress Foundation in the context of historic preservation in the United States. Potential Kress Fellow projects could include the exploration of shared European and American influences in style, design, materials, construction techniques, building types, conservation and interpretation methodologies, philosophical and theoretical attitudes, and other factors applicable to preservation in both Europe and America. Funding for this fellowship is made possible through the generous support of the Samuel H. Kress Foundation.
Applications must be submitted by December 16, 2024, 6PM EST. Please visit www.fitchfoundation.org to learn more about the criteria for evaluation and eligibility.

Please join us for the 2024 Fitch Colloquium, “Repairing Architecture Schools” a collaboration between the GSAPP Historic Preservation Program and Places Journal on Saturday, December 7th from 10 am to 5 pm in Avery Hall’s Wood Auditorium. This year’s colloquium will explore how to rebalance the relative importance of preservation in schools of the built environment in response to the growing importance of reusing the existing built environment, and addressing the cascading impacts of climate change.
After the Colloquium, join fellow alumni, faculty, staff, students, and friends to celebrate 60 years of the Historic Preservation Program with a reception featuring drinks and hors d'oeuvres.

GSAPP, a school that champions climate action through the built environment in its research, pedagogies, and publications, is excited to announce the launch of a new program in partnership with the Columbia Climate School: the Dual Degree in Urban Design and Climate. Beginning in the 2025-26 academic year, students will have the opportunity to receive the dual Master of Science in Architecture and Urban Design and Master of Science in Climate by combining three semesters at GSAPP with two semesters at the Climate School.

Columbia GSAPP celebrates the installation of Cloud, a student-designed, temporary inflatable structure for Avery Plaza. The pavilion project is the outcome of the Outside In seminar led by Professor Laurie Hawkinson and Professor of Professional Practice Galia Solomonoff. The project is the culmination of two semesters of work, spanning the Spring ’24 and Fall ’24.
