Save the Date for Screenagers

Do you spend lots of time thinking or worrying about the effects of screens on your teen? You won’t want to miss this event right here at ICE: a public screening of the film Screenagers on Wednesday April 26th at 6 pm. This will be followed by a discussion after the screening lead by Douglas Brodman, PhD, child psychologist at NYU Child Study Center.

“Award-winning Screenagers probes into the vulnerable corners of family life, including the director’s own, and depicts messy struggles over social media, video games, academics and internet addiction. Through surprising insights from authors and brain scientists, solutions emerge on how we can empower kids to best navigate the digital world.” www.screenagersmovie.com

Join us TODAY -- Saturday March 4th to Save Public Education!

Note: there has been a change in the location of the march

In 2006, the New York Court of Appeals held that the State’s school funding formula was unconstitutional because it failed to provide adequate resources to New York City’s public school students. The state then adopted a “foundation formula” for school funding that would ensure all schools receive a constitutional minimum. More than a decade later, the state has yet to meet this obligation. This means that I.C.E. receives nearly $900,000 less every year than it should (Campaign for Fiscal Equity)

As part of next year's budget, the Governor is proposing to eliminate the foundation aid formula altogether, permanently abandoning the benchmark for constitutional funding that would allow the city to collect back funds owed or claim the need for these funds in the future.

Rather than fighting for New York's public schools under the specter of Betsy De Vos, Cuomo is undermining New York City schools.

We are hoping to gather a big contingent of ICE families on Saturday, March 4th for the People’s March for Education Justice.

9:30 to 12:30, beginning at Trump International Hotel (@ Columbus Circle) and ending at the Governor’s Office (633 Third Avenue). Meet us at 9:15 at Central Park Information Kiosk at Columbus Circle.

Join us to fight for the funding that ICE and all New York City schools need!

CALL TO ACTION! SAY NO TO BETSY DEVOS VIGIL TONIGHT AT 7PM AND JOIN IN THE CAMPAIGN

Tonight is the eve of the Senate vote to confirm Betsy DeVos as Donald Trump’s Secretary of Education, outraged citizens are standing together in front of a local public school—any public school—at 7 PM ET to hold a candlelight (flashlight/smartphone light) vigil for public education.

If you're near ICE, come to the school --the PTA executive committee will be there! Or just show up at the local school down the block! Public schools are EVERYWHERE!
