Madeline Gunderson is a documentary filmmaker born and raised in a log cabin in the Pacific Northwest, based in Brooklyn. Madeline is currently a Fulbright-García Robles Arts grant recipient in Mexico, where she is directing a documentary film in Mexico State. For 9 months she'll be living in Mexico monitoring the Monarch butterfly brigade.
Previously, she was a GroundTruth Democracy fellow, an Overseas Press Club grant recipient, and a Chester Fritz scholar. Madeline has worked at USA Today, NBC News, Little Monster Films and Adonde Media. She directed the short documentaries A VALLEY DIVIDED, which premiered at DOCNYC, and LA VIDA DE UN LATERO, a “Best of the Fest '' selection at the Northwest Film Forum.

Congratulations to NewsDoc alum Giorgio Ghiotto who won the Non Fiction Series student Emmy for his thesis documentary, Wings of Dust!
Giorgio also won the Seymour Bricker Humanitarian Award, given to only one of the winners, with an award of $4000. He follows in the footsteps of Shuhao Tse who won this award last year.
