Tuesday was our first ever NYU SPS Street Fair! Students, clubs, and organizations took over the block outside 7 East 12th Street for an afternoon of games, snacks, giveaways, and plenty of chances to meet new people and get involved.

New and returning students connected with classmates, discovered ways to get involved at SPS, tested their skills at everything from foosball to Double Dutch, and kicked off the academic year together.

📊 From the Desk of: Elissa Taublib (MS in Integrated Marketing '26)

Elissa is putting her NYU SPS Division of Programs in Business education into action as a Senior Associate, Client Experience at dna Communications within Weber Shandwick.

"My experience studying Integrated Marketing at NYU SPS gave me a strong foundation that I continue to build on in my current role. During my master's, I discovered a growing passion for healthcare and scientific communications through experiences first through my summer role at IPG Health and later through my work at NYU's Urban Systems Lab, which helped shape the direction I wanted to take my career."

Now, Elissa is part of the Congress team at dna Communications, supporting Pfizer's oncology congresses on the medical affairs side of the booth. Her role draws on the collaboration, planning, cross-team coordination, and project management skills she developed at NYU School of Professional Studies.

"I'm loving my new team and agency, and I’m excited to continue learning, growing, and taking on new challenges in healthcare communications!"

NYU School of Professional Studies Dean Angie Kamath was recently interviewed by Scott Tong, co-host of WBUR 90.9 FM's Here & Now, on how midcareer professionals can become stalled in their careers, and what workers and employers can do about it.

She discusses new research from NYU SPS and The Burning Glass Institute finding that one in four white-collar workers has gone five or more years without a raise or promotion, and explores the causes and potential solutions to midcareer stagnation.

📚 From the Desk of: Xander Guidry (MS in Publishing)

Recent NYU SPS Center for Publishing, Writing, and Media graduate Xander Guidry is celebrating one year at Insight Editions, where they work as an Editorial Assistant in the Entertainment division.

"I’m genuinely so grateful to have been granted the opportunity to demonstrate my commitment to publishing as both an art and an industry! Working at a place that reveres fandom culture the way that Insight does truly is a dream come true for me."

Over the past year, Xander has worked on projects including "Six of Crows: A Darker Shore" and "Britney Spears: A Visual Celebration," bringing together their passion for publishing, fiction, and pop culture.

“Fiction and pop culture have provided me with a sense of belonging, and I am overjoyed that I’ve spent the last year working on projects that can offer that same experience to others. I look forward to building a career here that centers not only giving back to, but also further enriching, the communities and fandoms that raised me.”

Last week, five NYU SPS MS in Integrated Marketing students saw their names and faces light up Times Square after winning the inaugural OUTFRONT Media USA Marketing in Motion: An Integrated Marketing Campaign Challenge.

The spring competition challenged NYU SPS students to develop a full-funnel integrated marketing strategy using New York City transit as both a brand platform and growth channel. From 92 students representing 25 teams, six teams advanced to the finals at OUTFRONT Media headquarters, with a Times Square billboard among the prizes awaiting the winning team.

The winning team: Juan Pablo Cajiga Gordillo, Beng Febriano, Maryam Ijaz, Naina Sarin, and Sterling Throckmorton.

"It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience and a moment I'll never forget," said Juan Pablo.

For Naina, the moment carried special meaning: "Most of us are international students who have spent less than a year in New York, so seeing ourselves on Times Square feels surreal."

The only-in-NYC moment brought together the students and their friends and family with SPS leadership and Integrated Marketing and Communications faculty and students, including NYU School of Professional Studies Dean Angie Kamath, NYU SPS Division of Programs in Business Associate Dean Martin Ihrig, and Kathleen Rennie, Chair of the NYU SPS Integrated Marketing & Communications Department.

Congratulations to the team, and thank you to OUTFRONT Media for creating an unforgettable experiential learning opportunity and celebration of our students' work!
