Last weekend Duke alum enjoyed time together in celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month by learning salsa dance at Salsa Sabrosa School in NYC. 💃🏻🕺🏻 Music was pumping, hips were shaking and a good time was had by all at the event sponsored by DUHLA and Duke NY. Vamos Duke!!

Come join DukeNY and DUHLA for a fun group salsa dancing lesson in NYC at Salsa Sabrosa School (410 8th Ave, 4th floor, NYC 10001) on Saturday, October 4,2025 from 1:15-2:15 PM, to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month! Duke alumni from across all schools are welcome - come alone or bring a partner or friend.

DUHLA board members Manny Nieto, Tatiana Salvador, Ana Hawkins and Co-chair Audry Casusol met up at the Affinity Gatherings in Abele Quad during Duke Reunion weekend. 💙😈

Ricardo Duque, past chair of DuHLA, returned to campus this past weekend to kick off the “Made For This” campaign, which has a goal of raising $2.5B to support Duke’s next 100 years. The 4 pillars of the campaign’s focus will be Health, Climate, Technology/Innovation and Student Experience. The Campaign will soon be at a city near you!! Let’s go Duke!! 💙😈

The DuHLA board had the great honor and pleasure of hearing from Duke’s Dean of the Divinity School, Edgardo Colon-Emeric, during its monthly board meeting. It was inspiring to hear the many good things being done at Duke Divinity and the Dean’s journey to the place we all love. 💙😈

A fantastic turn out for DuHLA’s breakfast at the Broadhead Center where current undergrad and graduate students met up with alums and DuHLA board members, Manlio Valdes, Manny Nieto, Vanessa Cheney Stoffels and Melissa Attar. Good food and great conversation was enjoyed by all!
