All year long, our Village Hebrew students invested so much energy into learning about their Jewish heritage, growing in their Hebrew literacy, and exploring what it means to grow up today as proud Jews.
We had a beautiful time celebrating all of that at our graduation ceremony. Every student was recognized for their effort, and we were so proud of the incredible projects they created. Our older students made jumbo mitzvot displays, while our younger students crafted adorable Hebrew-name trains celebrating their Jewish identity and the mitzvot they observe. We finished by planting together in our beautiful Village Hebrew vases.
We can’t wait for next year ❤️

Cheesecake, conversation, and community.
This week we mixed, baked, laughed, caught up with old friends, met new ones, and bonded over traditions that connect Jews across thousands of years.
The Jews who stood at Mount Sinai lived in tents while we live in skyscrapers. They were shepherds and farmers; we stare at screens all day. Their world and ours would seem completely foreign to each other from the outside.
And yet, if one of those ancient Jews walked into Chabad West Village, we’d probably have plenty to talk about. Beneath the surface, we share the same values, the same traditions, and the same rhythms of Jewish life: Shabbat, family, caring for others… and yes, eating dairy on Shavuot.
Thank you to for running the event, our amazing events committee for organizing it all, and talented baker for leading us through the sweetest part of the evening. Chag sameach!

Mazal tov .wynn and 🤍
Their story began with an Instagram message, a mysterious “setup,” and a very bold reveal over a glass of wine.
Matt told Ari he had someone in mind for her. When Ari asked who, Matt eventually answered, “It’s me. And you’re on the date.”
Thank G-d, she laughed.
And really, that laughter says so much about them. From the beginning, Ari and Matt have always chosen joy, honesty, and each other.
A Jewish wedding is the reunion of two halves of one soul. It felt especially meaningful that their chuppah took place just days before Shavuot, the holiday our sages call “Yom Chatunato,” the wedding day between G-d and the Jewish people.
At Sinai, we stood “K’ish Echad B’Lev Echad,” like one person with one heart. That is the blessing of marriage: to face life as one.
Ari and Matt, may you build an everlasting Jewish home filled with Torah, mitzvot, Jewish pride, and endless mazal!

Will my child feel Jewish or Jew-ish?
We live in a world that often values wealth over wisdom and image over character. Raising children with strong Jewish values can feel overwhelming.
At Village Hebrew, we believe Jewish values aren’t learned, they are experienced.
Our boutique Hebrew School in the West Village helps children connect deeply to Judaism through art, music, sports, cooking, Hebrew literacy, and hands-on experiences that bring Jewish heritage to life.

Mazal tov, Owen! You really put in the work—and it showed. You stood there with confidence, read beautifully, and carried yourself in a way that made your family and community so proud. This didn’t just happen on its own. It came from real effort, time, and commitment. It was pure nachas to watch you step into this role as a Jewish young man.
The Cooper family chose to mark the occasion with something truly meaningful: the dedication of a new Torah to our community, completed at Owen’s Bar Mitzvah. And Owen was the first to read from it—an honor that makes this moment even more holy and unforgettable.
The Coopers have been beloved pillars of this community, standing with us at so many pivotal moments of our growth. Their partnership and belief in what we’re building together means more to us than we can say.
We are deeply grateful, and we look forward to many more years of celebration and nachas together.
Mazal tov, Owen. Keep shining and going from strength to strength. -Photographer:

Tova turned to a young girl and asked,
“When you grow up, will you tell my story to your children?”
“Yes,” she promised.
At Hineni: Here I Am, Tova Friedman, one of the youngest survivors of the Holocaust, shared her story.
From the horrors of Auschwitz… to building a family, children, grandchildren, and a life of purpose.
Her answer to darkness is more life, more light, more Judaism.
“I want to speak as long as I can, and reach as many people as possible.”
Now it’s on us.
Thank you to Neil Goldman for guiding this powerful conversation, to Steeven Mallett for capturing the evening, and to our Hineni committee, Allison Schrager, Thomas Easton, Kyle Price, and chair Ethan Shire.
