Their story started at a West Village phone booth many decades ago. It became official under a chuppah at Chabad a few blocks away.
When Mia and Alan once shared the story of how they met, Berel asked the obvious rabbi question: “So why aren’t you married?”
Apparently, they took him seriously.
After a lifetime of adventures together, Mia and Alan finally stood beneath the chuppah, surrounded by family and friends, right here in the Chabad house.
And what a pair they are.
Mia brings color, laughter, creativity and passion wherever she goes. An artist, writer and musician, she has a remarkable ability to find beauty in the world and add more of it. Alan is her perfect counterbalance: steady, patient, generous and deeply kind, the person who quietly shows up for others without ever looking for recognition.
There was something profoundly moving about two people who have already shared so much life together deciding that there was still another chapter to begin, something new to discover, and something sacred to add to their lives.
