Urban Bush Women continues to hold legacy as an active, ongoing practice that asks each of us to participate in the making and remaking of our shared story. This work is only possible through a community that believes in the power of what we build together.
UBW has always been guided by our belief that dance is a crucial part of any social justice movement and has the ability to shift our perspectives for the better. We acknowledge that the current time weâre living in requires us to move in bold, audacious ways which is nothing new to us. Centering Black Women and the stories of the African Diaspora continues to be our mission both onstage and in our community engagement and partnering with others nationwide.
Your support helps sustain and carry this work forward in immeasurable ways.

For over 40 years, Urban Bush Women has embodied a legacy of defiance, ingenuity, challenge, triumph, and endurance. Through shifting economic, political, and social landscapes, we have remained steadfast in our belief in the transformative power of dance and performance as a vital tool to encourage social responsibility and civic engagement in our communities.
As a Black women-centered organization, we navigate systems that have historically been under-resourced and inequitable, making your support not only meaningful but essential. Your financial support, no matter how small, holds the power and ability to make an impact from the micro to the macro.
UBW will always be an organization rooted in ensemble and our community, and we are forever grateful for the role you play within that.
