The official page for the American Red Cross Greater New York Region. Emergencies call 1-877-REDCROSS Military Academy at West Point; and in Greenwich, Conn.

Serves more than 12 million people in New York City; on Long Island; in Rockland and Westchester counties; at the U.S. We respond to approximately seven emergencies and disasters a day across the region—home fires, floods, building collapses—and more, providing shelter, food, clothing and emotional support at no cost to those in need. We also collect blood, teach lifesaving skills, and support military members, veterans and their families.

Every day, Red Cross volunteers show up for communities, often in their greatest moments of need. We’re honored to partner with Macy's to celebrate and support these heroes.

Thank you, Macy’s, for inviting your customers to round up in-store or donate online through July 13 to support the mission of the Red Cross. We’re grateful for every small act that adds up. Visit macys.com/fireworks to learn more.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for portions of CT, NJ and NY until 10PM tonight. The main threats will be damaging winds and hail. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. If headed out, have a plan to take shelter if a storm gets too close.

EXERCISE! EXERCISE! EXERCISE!

Our Metro New York North Chapter team participated in a thunderbolt exercise today - a no-notice, timed exercise to open several congregate shelters concurrently. From moving supplies into place to setting up cots and opening registration, the team practiced each step needed to create a safe place for people displaced by a disaster.

We are grateful to and for being partners in this effort to prepare our teams and for serving as shelter sites.

A big THANK YOU to all who participated to help make sure we are ready to support the community when the time comes. ⛑️
