American Red Cross in Greater New York

American Red Cross in Greater New York The official page for the American Red Cross Greater New York Region. Emergencies call 1-877-REDCROSS Military Academy at West Point; and in Greenwich, Conn.

Serves more than 12 million people in New York City; on Long Island; in Rockland and Westchester counties; at the U.S. We respond to approximately seven emergencies and disasters a day across the region—home fires, floods, building collapses—and more, providing shelter, food, clothing and emotional support at no cost to those in need. We also collect blood, teach lifesaving skills, and support military members, veterans and their families.

The Biomedical Champion Award is presented to a corporate partner who demonstrates exceptional commitment to advancing Biomedical Services through meaningful collaboration, innovation, and support.
Delta Air Lines has counted the American Red Cross as a nonprofit partner for 85 years. Delta is the #1 corporate blood drive sponsor in the U.S., helping collect thousands of lifesaving blood donations each year.
Our partnership dating back to 1941 also supports disaster response efforts, helping ensure patients receive critical care when it’s needed most.
Locally in New York City, Delta has partnered with the American Red Cross to host impactful blood drives collecting over 792 units of blood and welcoming more than 1,000 first-time donors since September 2024.
Working with the Delta team has been nothing short of amazing, and we extend a special thank you to Kelly-Jeanne Lee and her Delta Airlines Community Engagement team for your outstanding leadership and partnership in helping save lives!

Back to school season is in full swing and our team is out in the community to help prepare and support families.

Our team had a great time at the Back to School event hosted and coordinated by Comunidad Latinx, Inc., in collaboration with the NYPD 114th Precinct Community Affairs and Outreach Division in Queens last week. The team shared important information on how families can prepare and prevent home fires.

Thanks to all who stopped by to say hello and learn more. And thank you to Anthem Health for providing our tent! ⛑️

The Disaster Response Award goes to a volunteer who excels in the first contact with a impacted resident in the field after an emergency, be it fire, flood or vacate. They are a resource that gathers information and addresses the immediate needs of a resident at probably the worst moment of their lives.
Olivia Haunso has always brought passion to her work with the Red Cross. She started as a summer intern and extended her work to regularly support Disaster Action Team operations.
She has become our most consistent and regular volunteer since then. Olivia for example completed 200 hours of service in a single month once, exceeding that of all other volunteers and several employees. She has helped us train other volunteers and employees, performed evaluations of our trainees, and even recruited some of her friends and colleagues from university to join as volunteers. Olivia always goes above and beyond!
