Hey everyone,
We are thrilled to share a highlight from last year’s New York City FIRST Robotics Regional, where our team had an amazing experience filled with learning, innovation, and teamwork. Check out this video to see our students in action and the incredible robot they built!

Thanks to your generous support, we were able to participate and make the most of this opportunity. As we gear up for the 2025 competition, we need your help once again. Running a robotics team is quite expensive, and every donation makes a huge difference.
If you can, please consider donating to our GoFundMe campaign: https://gofund.me/6e9dbaed
Your contributions help us provide these valuable experiences for our students and inspire the next generation of engineers and innovators.
Even if you can’t donate, you can still support us by sharing this post with your friends and family. Together, we can make this year’s competition even more successful!
Thank you for your continued support and for being a part of our journey!

BCS Families,
We continue to need your support to help Alan Cheng remain the Superintendent of the Consortium schools including Brooklyn Collaborative. If you missed the Town Hall where all three candidates for the position answered questions from parent on the Citywide Council on High Schools and members of the public, you can review the recording here. If you do, you will see that Alan Cheng is by far the best candidate for the job and that our staff and children will fare best under his leadership. We need to let the Department of Education know that, so we don’t get stuck with a less effective candidate.
Here are two ways that you can help:
1) The official feedback form is still open. We anticipate it will remain open until next Tues, 5/31. Please write comments in the form in support of Alan Cheng. Don’t know what to write? Find tips in this document.
2) Sign and share this letter in support of Alan. No effort--it's already written! Please get as many signatures as you can--your kids can sign too and so can friends who support Consortium schools--by Tuesday, 5/31.
Having a superintendent who understands and uplifts the non-traditional model of our school is so important to our school’s well being. Thanks for joining me and other community members in taking the actions above.

Dear BCS Community,
As a testament to their persistence and collaboration, the 11th Graders are preparing to take part in the sixth annual mock community board meeting regarding the building of a monument to an important member of the abolitionist movement in our local Carroll Park.
We need panelists to act as Board Members (who have voting power). Our meetings will take place March 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th during 4th Period (11:45-12:30). You would be listening to arguments from student stakeholders for various monuments, including:
Local Residents
Activists
Historians
BCS/BNS Parents
Police Officers
Students will be writing speeches and letters, and some will be completing monument draft proposals.
Your job will be listening, asking probing questions, giving constructive feedback and shout outs, and ultimately voting on who the community board should choose to make the monument for.
Some of the important issues the students have been grappling with are:
Who do we memorialize? Why do we memorialize them?
Do monuments reflect the person/people themselves, or the monument builders?
How do we confront difficult knowledge from our past? What do we choose to honor?
If you can be at the Town Hall, please sign up here!
