From Myles Amend at Trinity:
August 24, 2020
Dear friends,
I write to let you know that one of the giants of Trinity’s history, John Hanly, has died, following a long illness, at the age of 78.
John was a native of Cardiff, in Wales, and was educated at Oxford. He taught for several years in Britain before coming to the United States and joining Trinity in 1968. At Trinity, John was a member of the English Department, a “form master” in the parlance of the day, coordinator of student volunteer programs, and a soccer coach. From 1973 until 1975, John was principal of the Middle School. In 1975, John became Assistant Headmaster and Principal of the Upper School, positions he held until 1986. He served as Interim Headmaster at Trinity during the 1986-87 school year before commencing a thirteen year career as head of the Pingry School, from which he retired in 2000. Throughout his administrative career at Trinity, John continued to teach English at Trinity as well as at Project Broad Jump and then at Prep for Prep on the weekends and in the summer.
John was known as the consummate Trinity teacher whose love of literature and language was matched by his love of his students and his devotion to Trinity. In return, he was beloved by generations of Trinity students and colleagues with whom he maintained lifelong relationships as a mentor and dear friend, relationships that lasted to the very end of his life. In 2016, a group of John’s former Trinity students came together to name the John Hanly Upper School Offices and Conference Room, “In Honor of Our Teacher, Mentor and Friend: Given by his former students, with gratitude for his many years of service and his impact on generations of alumni and faculty with his brilliant mind, lively conversation, and gentle wit.”
In the coming days, a fuller remembrance of John’s service at Trinity and of his profound impact on scores of Trinity alumni and colleagues will be mounted on the Trinity website. To share memories and stories of John, please email [email protected].
As we mourn John’s passing, let us remember most his love of teaching and learning, his dedication to Trinity, and his care for his students and his colleagues. May he rest peacefully.
Sincerely,
Myles

Hi all,
If you own a business and have not yet applied for a PPP loan, here is some useful information:
My regular bank only accepted PPP applications for 4 days. I was so busy helping my clients with their applications that I didn't apply in time for my own company.
However, I was able to submit an application through Kabbage.com https://www.kabbage.com/paycheck-protection-program-loans/, which is STILL taking applications. I applied and was approved in one week for a loan convertible to a grant equal to 2 1/2 months payroll.
I subsequently learned from one of my clients that PayPal is also processing applications https://www.loanbuilder.com/ppp-loan-support.
If you think you need a loan for your company, there are still funds available. Call me at 917 705-3893 if you need more information.
