September 10th is World Su***de Prevention Day.

It is estimated that there are more than 720,000 su***des per year. This year’s theme is “Changing the Narrative.”

Changing the narrative on su***de involves transforming societal perceptions from silence and stigma to openness, empathy, and support, encouraging honest conversations.

How can we help to change the narrative around su***de?

-Check in with loved ones who might be struggling
-Keep informed with trainings
-Share your story about how su***de and su***de awareness affects you
-Advocate for mental health in your personal life, at work, and on social media

Attention MCNY students!! Do you need school supplies for yourself or your children? Come to the school supply drive, starting next Monday, August 18. You can go to the Manhattan campus Monday - Friday 11 AM - 5 PM, or the Bronx campus Monday - Thursday 11 AM - 5 PM. Check your email for more info!

Students and staff came together for MCNY’s 2nd Annual Open Mic last week. There was an outpouring of support, positivity and creativity as we came together in community for this showcase. Thank you to everyone who participated and who came out to show their support. Be sure to join us next summer for MCNY’s Open Mic! 🎤

Join us tomorrow for a special event, “Culturally Competent Responses to Male Sexual Abuse in NYC Shelters” from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM in the Welcome Center at the MCNY Manhattan Campus. You will have the opportunity to listen to a panel of speakers and to ask questions. The event is open to MCNY students, alumni, staff, and faculty. It is also open to the public, ages 18 and older. A group of MCNY students join in on the conversation with who came to speak with us about local politics, and how to advocate for change with our local politicians. Saturday, June 14 is your last day to register to vote! Early voting also starts this Saturday, and Election Day is Tuesday, June 24 🗳️
