New Anti-War protest work: “Lament Of Light” by SkyVega

Artist Statement: Sky Vega Lament of Light is an impressionist-inspired acrylic on canvas, depicting an angel in surrender and sacrifice. Protesting war, the piece embodies themes of Light, Mourning, and Eternal Vigilance. Although angels are traditionally genderless, this female form honors maternal grief. Her arms hang limply, dragging her wings, while the figure, arched backward, shields the space she cannot witness—signifying a self-offering in prayer. On a bent knee, her powerful legs convey resilience and a plea for peace. Textured azure layers create a luminous sky, contrasting with her pale form outlined in violet, indigo, and teal—emphasizing her divine presence and purity. The radiating, sun-like light spirals toward her, holding her in vigilance for the world.
