to an unforgettable spring break in Greece 🇬🇷✨
Our students kicked off their adventure in Athens—exploring the Parthenon Museum, climbing Mars Hill, and dining family-style with fellow American students.
They walked in the footsteps of philosophers at the Acropolis and even visited Socrates’s Prison. In Tolo, they got hands-on with pottery and made their own spanakopita.
As Mr. Magee said, “We experienced history not just as something to study—but to stand in.”
We’re so proud of these global explorers—and can’t wait to see where we go next! 🌍✈️

Today, our students swapped field study for Winchendon NYC's First Annual Field Day!
Advisory groups went head to head in relay races, and underclassmen delivered a surprising victory in kickball. Swipe to see how ten brave students fared against their teachers in a (not so) close tug of war battle.
After a day of tight games and big wins, everyone kicked back with a picnic on Central Park's Great Lawn. Thanks for bringing the hustle and heart, Wapitis! 💚

Back from spring break, and back in the field!
Yesterday, Mr. Bowen's Algebra II and Precalculus classes created clinometers and used them to measure angles over long distances. They then applied their knowledge of trigonometry to calculate the heights of buildings around Bryant Park. With some cardboard, string, and a drinking straw, students were able to accurately approximate the height of a skyscraper to within 20 feet.
Mr. Heney's Finance class went to MSCI in the Financial District to speak with the father of current senior, Jagger P. Students got a tour of their facilities and learned about what a career in finance might look like!

Last week, our students wrapped up their experiences, and will be jumping into signups when they return from Spring Break. We're using this to celebrate the incredible work they did!
Project Based Learners practiced valuable time management and problem solving skills as they completed their art installations–all created with wire, wire cutters, and pliers.
Service Learners volunteered at the New York Common Pantry, where they were able to give back to their community and form meaningful connections with other New Yorkers.
Expeditionary Learners went all over the city–whether that was at Makers Space, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, or the Discovery Tank. Students wrestled with humanity's relationship with nature through four different field experiences.
Learning through doing continues as our students gear up for - stay tuned!

This we're celebrating our seniors and their successful mock trial of Dr. Victor Frankenstein (and Frankenstein's monster).
12th graders in their Transatlantic Literature class recently completed Mary Shelley's "Frankenstein," and spent the past few weeks building their cases. The prosecution was tasked with using textual evidence to accuse 'The Monster' of murder, while the defense fired back with accusations of child neglect and scientific malpractice.
Students served as Judges, attorneys, witnesses, bailiffs, and the jury. After a spirited two hour trial and thoughtful deliberation, the verdict came in: both parties were found guilty.
Thank you to Ms. Legro and the 12th grade class for their hard work and dedication in bringing Frankenstein to life!

This we're highlighting Sierra W., '25!
Sierra joined The Winchendon School NYC at the start of her junior year, and instantly took advantage of all that a Midtown Manhattan campus has to offer. Whether that was as the leading lady in "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee", or connecting with Dr. Lipat in between her multivariable calculus classes, Sierra has always embodied the spirit of a Winch kid–ever curious, ever forward.
When she's not in the classroom, you can find Sierra in rehearsals, practice, or maybe even the new Winchendon library that she designed and built. Sierra is an active member of Student Government, a Green Key Ambassador, and a contributor to the weekly morning show. Like many Winchendon students, Sierra has taken advantage of the small classes to form meaningful connections with her peers and teachers, allowing her to go above and beyond in and out of the classroom.
Swipe through to learn more about Sierra, what she loves about Winchendon, and some of her most memorable ColLAB experiences!
