Super excited to start my new JTole Jazz Academy fall program with two big bands! I’ve helped so many organizations build their big bands from the ground up and it’s been long overdue to start one of my own.

Spread the word and send anyone interested my way. My top band is already stacked with talent and the second band/improv class is full of young talent. Some spots still available.

This summer was filled with a ton of gigs and teaching. I’m ending it with a nice run of big band gigs from this Monday to Saturday!

Jason Marshall Big Band at Dizzy’s tonight and the Yardbird Big Band led by David DeJesus from Tues-Sat at Birdland. Two sets every night.

Double header tonight. Last stop is Dizzy’s tonight running the jam session starting around 11:15pm. Come by and bring your horn and help me out. Enjoying hearing my man Warren Wolf right now.

It’s a wrap for JTole Jazz Camp 2026! Thank you to all of the faculty, TA’s, amazing students, parents, Newark Academy, and the summer session admin. A special shout out to my kids who made it a family affair this year with Jacob as a director, Anneliese as a TA, and Alexis as my assistant.

We had the power couple at JTole Jazz Camp this week! Miki Yamanaka and Jimmy McBride laying it down and working with our rhythm sections. We also had several campers sit in at the JTole Jam Session this weekend! Three more days of swing!

Day 4, JTole Jazz Camp. The students are tackling some tough rep and are already sounding great! Can you guess the sax section excerpt?

Young lady playing lead alto has an incredible sound and feel, she’s my second alto player at NA this year so look out 👀. The young lady singing is only going to be in 7th grade next year and is already swinging! The future is bright! And I know how to get them early 😜
