Thank you to Maspeth Federal Savings for inviting us to volunteer at the autumn Recycling Day Event! Rain didn’t slow us down as we partnered with USA Shred and Lower East Side Ecology Center to recycle paper and e-waste while giving away pumpkins and Bentley Seeds pollinator seed packets to our thankful community! We look forward to doing it again in the spring!

The Maspeth High School Climate Action Day was off the charts! Many thanks to Bentley Seeds for making the day so special with giveaways of Earth Day seed packets, totes, clothing, and hats! It was all-in as the whole school community came together for the sake of health, wellness, and green spaces! We celebrated with a wellness message from Principal Alicanoglu, physical education lessons on the four areas of health, and health class lessons on pollinator garden planting. There was a specific focus on food and our future with a vegetarian, plastic-free lunch, lunchtime plant games and demos, fruit smoothies, and a special food production lab with Mr. Bell and Mr. Powell! Thanks as well to the Green Clubbers in charge of our “Climate Action Day Wellness Pledge”delivered to all 1200 MHS students, the “Wall of Feeling,” and the students and custodial staff who helped dedicate our brand new weather station, bird houses, and pollinator plants! There is so much to be joyful for as we plan for the final water-themed CAD on 6/12. See you there!

The Green Clubbers got a big win in the MHS room decorating contest! Their creative designs for room 328’s entrances and lab spaces made the room stand out. All art pieces were reclaimed from discarded materials. Members also created components with living and once-living plants to depict the harvest season.
