We are presenting an up and coming artist series called “Newer Sounds,”. The idea is to bring the excitement of the downtown music scene to the upper west side and feature the next generation of New York musicians. We will also be presenting some national acts that may not be New York based. We are reaching out to Columbia Uni

versity as well as local radio stations and newspapers in hopes of growing our total audience each week. The goal is to establish a community where young quality artists can showcase their work and where young music listeners can have access to great music at a price they can afford. Newer Sounds will happen twice each month, falling on a Friday. Three to four different bands or musical acts will be featured each night. A cover charge of $10 per adult and $5 for students, as well as sponsorship will pay for the night’s expenses. Music should be an integral part of the next generation of the upper west side. By starting “Newer Sounds,” we intend to help preserve and enrich the upper west side’s artist community.
