🎉The UC application deadline is approaching, and here are five crucial factors that UCs consider for a standout application.

1️⃣ Classes and Rigor
UC admissions officers spend a considerable amount of time evaluating your transcript. Opt for classes that demonstrate academic rigor and align with your declared major.

2️⃣ Grades
UC states that "the strength of your high school record is the most important component in our review.” So, excel in challenging courses and maintain a solid GPA.

3️⃣ Standardized Test Scores
While UC schools are test blind and your SAT or ACT scores will not be reviewed, leverage other scores like AP or IB exams to showcase your academic strength.

4️⃣ Extracurriculars
Your extracurriculars are another important part of your UC application. Showcase your extracurricular impact by emphasizing your passion and leadership skills in your field of interest.

5️⃣ Personal Insight Questions, also known as PIQs

🚨 The application is submitted—now what?!

Log onto your application portal and swipe through these important steps to ensure your admission.

Your 4-Step Post-Submission Checklist:
1️⃣ Check your email first to get your portal access. Once inside, you must log in regularly as this is where your admissions decision will most likely be!

2️⃣ Use the portal to verify that every single required document (transcripts, recommendations, test scores, etc.) has been marked as received. If something is missing, send it immediately—and remember, all follow-up communication must come from you, not your parents!

3️⃣ Use the portal to check if the college(s) have received all documents they require with the application. If one of these components is missing, immediately send it to the college.

4️⃣ Finally, start working on how you will update your early schools. Confirm and adhere to each college’s protocol, and if there is a word restriction on updates.

Many students think adding a link will wow admissions officers — but here’s the truth: most readers won’t click unless it’s easy, relevant, or required.

✅ Make your app strong without needing a link.
✅ If you include one, describe what’s inside so they get the value even if they don’t click.
✅ Only link when it’s invited (like portfolios).
✅ Keep it professional and updated.
✅ Don’t create a website just to impress.
✅ Use the Additional Info section wisely.
✅ Give a clear reason to click.
✅ Always make your story complete on the page itself.

💡 Your application should stand tall on its own—link or no link.
