What a summer!!

This July, as a member of the NBA , I had the privilege in attending the National Bar Association’s 101st conference in Nashville, TN.

I’m still feeling a way that not one colleague informed that this is an annual event and conference that very much SHOULD be a STAPLE event on my professional calendar. When I tell you the NBA gets down, they get down at this annual conference.

Jokes aside, this was a week of reuniting with old friends and colleagues, meeting new friends and forging connections from across the country. I saw colleagues from Memphis, Nashville, Georgia, Texas and, of course, New York. I had a blast, learning, dancing, networking and in unified fellowship. The icing for me was the ability to hear from former Vice President Kamala Harris who shared insightful words in conversation with the immediate past NBA President, Ashley Upkins.

NBA— I will most definitely see everyone next year as well as in meetings/ events in service throughout the year.

NYWBA - What it’s Really Like to Practice Law as a Woman Annual summer program .

Grateful for the opportunity to speak on the perspective of practicing law in such a still today, male dominated field. Despite, the increased number of women either in or recently graduated from law school, women in law have come a long way and yet still have a ways to go. Now, compound practicing as a woman with practicing while Black.
Happy to share my perspective and experience with so many summer interns and new lawyers (and seasoned Attorneys) present in the audience from all over.

Even more so, happy to share my perspective alongside such a notable panel of experienced women lawyers from different practice positions.

Thank you to my friend, Judge Crystal R. Villaseñor, Vice President, NYWBA for the invitation. Always, happy to serve the bar.

Lincoln Center’s Summer in the City Series with my Sorors. Night birds, the Music of LaBelle.

An evening with the incomparable Patti LaBelle, Nona Hendryx, Ledisi and a few immensely talented others celebrated the legacy of The LaBelles. Oh and Patti and Nona look and sound AhMazing.

State Bar of Georgia Annual Meeting 2026.

Congratulations to all awardees including GABWA . I’m happy to be a member of many years. Congratulations to the incoming President William (Bill) Gentry. Happy to see you in the the “Big Chair”!

Learned so much at the CLEs presented. Always good meeting new colleagues, being amongst those serving the profession with excellence. Most importantly, Happy to serve and represent those Attorneys from across the country, my fellow GA Bar (out of state) members.

Lastly, happy to have my fam with me for a little R & R in a beautiful setting while not in meetings.

Missing you so very much.

This is the photo that I went searching for this weekend.

This photo is from Black Law Student Association (BLSA) Alumni dinner years ago.

Dad must have found himself in town that weekend and I invited him to go to the dinner along with in Macon. Well, of course, he was excited to go AND I was excited to have him with me. I was nervous because Brother Mack had a tendency to take up ALOT of space wherever he went.

I remember that he sat quietly and listened to the speakers and presenters until the very end. The incoming Dean was closing giving remarks and asked folks to share words if they wished.

I’m on pins and needles at this time when Brother Mack stands and tells the Dean and the entire room that he just knew that I was going to be a lawyer because during my years coming up, I would read, read, read all of the time even with a flashlight under the covers after it was bedtime.

I was MORTIFIED.

Everyone else thought he was endearing and thoughtful.

I’m grateful that I have this memory and so many similar stories of my Dad, Brother Mack. Honestly, I haven’t fully come to terms that he’s no longer here. I’m working on it. I realize I’m coming upon the “year of firsts” without him. Jesus keep me.

Happy Heavenly Father’s Day, Daddy!! I love you always.

Celebrating AND serving on Juneteenth in Harlem! I has a beautiful day serving with and . We met and talked with so many people as a member of the concerted efforts to encourage voter registration, civil engagement and voter participation by all. I spoke with folks from near and far- Harlem residents, Sorors in attendance and especially our youth brothers and sisters.

Let Freedom Ring!
