We’re excited to share our newest Teaching Matters case study, “How District 6 Turned a System Adoption into Classroom Gains!”

At Teaching Matters, we know that a new curriculum is only the beginning. Lasting change happens when educators, leaders, and systems work together to bring it to life.

Our newest case study highlights how our partnership with New York City’s District 6 helped strengthen instructional practice across 38 schools and contributed to an 8.3 percentage point increase in grades 3-5 ELA proficiency in a single year.

It’s a question we’re excited to continue exploring this week at the Council of the Great City Schools Curriculum, Research, and Instructional Leaders Conference!

Earlier this year, our CEO, Dr. Carolyne Quintana, joined Hillary Rinaldi of the National Math Improvement Project and Carey Swanson of Student Achievement Partners for an important onversation on what fluency really means and what it takes to build it in every student.

One message stood out: fluency isn’t simply about speed. It’s a foundation for deeper learning.

This week, they’ll build on that conversation by exploring what it takes to create lasting fluency in math and literacy, why fluency matters as a foundation for deeper learning, and how districts can create the conditions that sustain those gains at scale.

As we continue to explore AI and other ways to innovate, one question guided our conversations at Teaching Matters last week:

“What must remain true about who we are as our tools, services, and ways of working evolve?”

During our quarterly all-staff session and our Professional Growth Day for our coaches, these answers emerged: human connection, professional judgment, and relationships. AI is already shaping the educational landscape, and we’re committed to learning alongside educators so we can navigate what comes next thoughtfully and together.

We closed out the week celebrating the end of another school year together and reflecting on what matters most. While the landscape around us may continue to change, and we may not yet have all the answers, our commitment to curiosity, care, and human connection remains constant.

At Teaching Matters, we love to see our impact in numbers, but we know and believe that true impact starts long before outcomes show up in data. For us, it starts with relationships.

Over the past several weeks, living that out looked like gathering with partners and supporters in Connecticut for conversations about the future of early childhood literacy, witnessing the magic of teaching and coaching in real time at P.S. 242 in Harlem, and convening our Chairman’s Council for their spring member meeting where members got to see our work up close.

This work only moves forward because of relationships built on trust, shared values, and a genuine belief that educators deserve real partnership so they can show up confident and competent in service of their students. We’re grateful for every partner and supporter who shows up to this work the same way we do!

Today, we kicked off the second session of Leveraging AI to Strengthen Instructional Coherence, our new three-part leadership series in partnership with !

Last week, district leaders came together to wrestle with important questions around AI, instructional coherence, trust, implementation, and the future of teaching and learning.

Because the reality is: AI is already here. The question is how schools use it in ways that strengthen instruction without sacrificing critical thinking, professional judgment, or human connection.

As our CEO Dr. Carolyne Quintana shared, “We do not have to choose between innovation and humanity.”

We believe AI has real potential, but only when paired with thoughtful leadership, strong instructional systems, and the human judgment educators bring to their work every day.

This weekend, we’ll be at NYSALAS’ 6th Annual Leadership Conference for a powerful gathering centered on purpose, clarity, and collective impact!

Our CEO, Dr. Carolyne Quintana, is honored to serve as keynote speaker, and we’re excited to lead a session alongside Superintendents Renzo Martinez and Camille Wallin on “Building Coherent Instructional Systems Through District and School Partnerships.”

We know that real impact happens when vision, leadership, coaching, and instruction move together. That is why spaces like this matter. They create room for leaders to wrestle with real challenges, exchange practical strategies, and build stronger systems for students and schools.

We’re grateful to be in community with education leaders from across New York this weekend.
