Developing ethical and effective leaders through life-changing opportunities since 1978. The Prep Community includes over 5,000 students and alumni.

To diversify the nation’s leadership pool, Prep for Prep finds the most promising children of color in New York City and prepares them for success in leading independent day and boarding schools. Prep then offers its students support and an array of ongoing leadership and professional development opportunities through college graduation and beyond.

Meet Brandon S. (XLII), a rising senior at The Browning School and this summer’s Alumni Affairs intern. 👋

As part of his internship, Brandon was challenged to create his own social media post highlighting something meaningful to him.

With different career paths on his mind, he decided to tap into the Prep for Prep alumni network and connect with two alumni, Vaughn Caldon (XI/Trinity, NYU) and Marissa Combs (###I/Spence, Univ. of Chicago). Through their conversations, he explored the different ways interests, experiences, and opportunities can shape a career journey.

Brandon turned those conversations into a story of his own, sharing what stood out to him and what he took away from their experiences.

Leading up to the TCS New York City Marathon in November, Team Prep for Prep is already preparing for the big day! Meet Jared Orellana (###I/Trinity, Columbia), Queens native and Prep alum currently working at Vocon. Jared is also a talented photographer and had a book published by BLANKMAGBOOKS in July! 📸🌟

Jared has been running since high school and is excited to run the 2026 NYC Marathon with a mission to inspire the next generation of Prep for Prep students.

Congratulations to Prep for Prep Contingent XLVIII and PREP 9 Contingent ###IX on their commencement! 🌟These resilient scholars are officially stepping into their next chapter at independent and boarding schools. Last week, 82 Prep for Prep students and 43 PREP 9 students completed the Preparatory Component. We are so proud of them and can’t wait to support them on the next steps of their Prep journey!

Inspiring the next generation of scientists! 🧬 ✨Prep for Prep’s ongoing partnership with The JAX-NYSCF Collaborative gives high school and college students hands-on lab experience and a glimpse into STEM careers. “I wanted to give a giant thank you to Prep for Prep for bringing us such a great cohort of students for the summer immersive,” said Mike Duran, Senior Manager of Education and External Relations at NYSCF, of this summer’s cohort, “the students seemed to have a great time and were engaged throughout; hopefully we convinced at least some of them to pursue a STEM career!"

PIPP wrapped up the summer with an inspiring evening of final presentations! 🌟💼📈Throughout the nine-week Public Policy Internship Program, Prep for Prep students gained hands-on experience across the public policy sector while working in small groups to develop presentations exploring America’s 250th anniversary.

We’re proud of the creativity, collaboration, and leadership our students demonstrated throughout the summer - and excited to see how they continue to make an impact!

Meet Liz Luciano (XXII)! A Prep alum and graduate of St. Lawrence University, with a Master’s in Education from Lesley University, Liz serves as Chief of Staff and Client Services Associate for the Team Wenk/Azovtsev brokerage team at Savills Inc.

When she isn't training or spending time with her family and pets (a dog, cat, and leopard gecko!), you can find her traveling or cheering on her boys at hockey and pickleball.

Congratulations to all of the brilliant young entrepreneurs who completed this summer's Institute for Entrepreneurship (IFE)! 🎉 We couldn't be prouder of everything they accomplished, culminating in their final venture pitches on the Google stage.

Over the course of this intensive five-week program, students explored the fundamentals of entrepreneurship, marketing, technology, and AI while transforming innovative ideas into real startup concepts. Each team developed a fully functional website or app and pitched their AI-enabled venture for the opportunity to receive seed funding.

The future of entrepreneurship is bright, and these young innovators are leading the way. 🚀

Five weeks of learning, innovation, and entrepreneurship came to an exciting close as Prep for Prep's 2026 Institute for Entrepreneurship (IFE) cohort wrapped up the program with its final Business Plan Competition at Google!

Throughout the program, students explored technology, marketing, and business development before bringing their ideas to life. Five finalist teams pitched their innovative business concepts to a panel of industry judges.

Congratulations to our 2026 Business Plan Competition winners: Gabrielle B. (XLV/Nightingale Bamford School), Mahawa B. (XLV/Trevor Day), Thomas Chu (###VIII/Middlesex), and Sulien D. (XLV/Fieldston)!🌟

Their winning venture, A Better Order, helps people make healthier fast-food choices through personalized nutrition guidance and convenient meal recommendations. In addition to taking home the top prize, the team received valuable feedback from industry leaders to help shape their entrepreneurial journeys.

A huge thank you to our partners: Cambio Labs, Centerbridge, Collegiate School, and Google. Special thanks to Prep alum Dale Allsopp (VII), MBA, Penn, for hosting us at Google.
