With this coming Shavuos I wish all our friends a Kabbalas HaTorah, besimcha uvepinimius (reception of the Torah with joy and with "internalization")! I am happy to share with you a word about the progress of the yeshiva which I have dedicated my life to for the past 4 years:

Baruch Hashem, we have accomplished so much in our 4 years of operation. We have grown from a small class of 3 children in my house to a cheder helping our entire community, anash and all of Jewry! We are a cheder which lives with בנינו עורבים אותנו" (Our children shall be our guarantors, Midrash Rabbah, Song of Songs 1:3,1). We see that not only is “chanoch lena’ar-al pi darko” important, but rather “vechol banaich limudei Hashem” (ALL children are Hashem’s talmidim)! We are a cheder which sees the need to ensure that ALL children receive a chassidishe chinuch. With our character development mission based on the Frierdikor Rebbe’s 7 Principles of Education and Guidance (7PEG) and our YCYL Innovative Curriculum we make becoming a chassid, yarei shamayim, lamdan accessible. Our chassideshe melamdim with talent and training in this wonderful and pure chinuch are our trademark. Say we are the very first English Cheder beruach Yisroel Sabba. In addition to our children knowing really well how to: davven, and learn Chumash and Mishnayos, and have a great sense of yiras shamayim, they know how to communicate what they learn as well! We have no limudei chol program, yet our children are coming out knowing how to read and write and do math better than yeshivos that do! This is because we see the needs of our children, and we help them reach their heights!

Yeshivas Chok L’Yisroel was full with chayus and warmth on Chof Daled Teves, the day of the Alter Rebbe’s yohrtzeit.

The boys gathered together for a farbrengen where they sang heartwarming niggunim of the Alter Rebbe, the Baal Hahilula, together with their teachers, and with much chayus.

Rabbi Hershel Moss, school principal, fabrengened with the students, retelling stories about the Alter Rebbe, his wondrous travels, and petira while fleeing from Napoleon. The boys learned all about the Rambam, whose yohrtzeit was recently commemorated. The boys also learned about common themes between the life and work of the Alter Rebbe and the Rambam. Both great leaders wrote seforim on Jewish law - The Alter Rebbe's Shulchan Aruch, and the Rambam's Mishneh Torah, as well as writings on hashkofo - the Tanya and the Moreh Nevuchim. Both sages, explained Rabbi Moss, received hisnagdus to their teachings and publications, only later to be accepted as great contributors of the Torah.

Rabbi Moss then shared with the students the message and lesson applicable to them all. Although their beliefs may not be mainstream in the world, if they stand strong in their conviction, ultimately they will be respected for their chassidishkeit.

As true chayolim, the boys then said l'chaim (on apple juice!) and blessed each other to strengthen their hiskashrus to our Rabbeim.

BH, our YeshivaCamp is going really well!

Don't be afraid of the name! We are NOT a summer school! Yeshiva should be fun all year around, and we believe our yeshiva is. So why shy away from the word yeshiva?

As a matter of fact, I believe our children are more active than in any other camp.

Why?

Because they are being guided to participate. Sports are part of their chinuch (Jewish education). I don't have to tell you, who has been involved with sports growing up: the competitive spirit consisting of camaraderie and even rivalry has much to teach us. The k***z (Yiddish for trick) is in the attitude of the teacher.
In addition to a great sports program, kickball, football, soccer, capture the flag, you name it, with explanations and thought out teams and drills, we also give all the children lessons in:

Music

Chess

Video Production

Really.

We teach English as part of our multi-disciplinary/integrated curriculum. Fancy wording meaning that we teach the children to enjoy and relate to the Torah by using their prior knowledge. Since they come from English speaking homes, English is our language of instruction.

BH, our parents of our 2nd grade class are expressing amazement how well their children learned to read English.

Don’t let your son regress over the summer.

Kria, like playing an instrument (which we also began learning over here), requires steady practice... but not plain practice. “Perfect” Practice. Who said “Practice makes perfect?” What if your child is practicing wrongly?
