πŸͺ β€œCheck it twice β€” it’s good advice.” Mr. D wrote you a song about it (🎸 and all).

Here’s the idea: our students check their own work. They don’t wait on someone else to tell them if they got it right β€” they finish the problems, catch their own mistakes, and know it’s right before it’s ever graded.

That’s confidence. And it means math gets done and there’s still time left in the day for the good stuff.

So tell us β€” what’s the reward at your house when the math is finished? Drop a pic of your favorite dessert in the comments. πŸ‘‡

Bonus points if it’s still warm from the oven. πŸ˜‰

β€œMath just wasn’t my thing.”

McKenna loved school.

Reading? Yes.
Writing? Absolutely.
Math? Hard pass. πŸ˜…

Then she started with Mr. D Math.

She took geometry.
She worked with Mr. H.
She started to feel engaged.
She actually enjoyed math during her last few years of high school.

And when it came time for ACT and SAT?

She had the confidence to take the tests, get the scores she wanted, and get into the colleges she wanted.

That is the kind of transformation we care about.

Not turning every student into a math major.

Helping them stop seeing math as the thing that blocks the life they are trying to build.

After 30 years in education, I had a lot to say. πŸ“š

Most of it came from real conversations with families.

I kept hearing the same questions:

✨ How do we help kids take ownership of learning?
✨ How do we make education feel less overwhelming?
✨ How do we support students without doing the work for them?

That became the heart of my book:

Helping kids become independently responsible learners.

I wanted it to be simple, conversational, and useful for the people actually doing the work every day:

πŸ“š parents
πŸŽ“ students
🍎 teachers

And now, the second edition of that book just came out. The link is dropped in the comments.

Math support should feel like partnership, not pressure.

When families come to us, it is usually because math has started taking over the house.

The student is frustrated.
The parent is exhausted.
And everyone is tired of the same conversation ending the same way.

That is where we step in.

Parents still get to guide, support, and stay involved. But they do not have to carry the whole math-teaching load alone.

We help students build understanding in a way that actually makes sense to them.

Because sometimes the best thing a parent can do is stop trying to be the math teacher, and go back to being the parent.

Complicated math is not the enemy.

Unsupported math is.

When students hit a harder concept, the answer is not to rush past it or assume they are "just not good at math."

The answer is to slow it down until the pattern becomes visible.

That is how we teach inside Mr. D Math.

🧠 Start simple
πŸ“š Build the idea
✏️ Practice the pattern
πŸ’‘ Then make the complicated part feel doable

And yes, we might even call it fun.

The students may disagree at first.

We can live with that.

Math support should feel human.

Not like another login.
Not like another assignment.
Not like your kid is being dropped into a system and expected to figure it out.

At Mr. D Math, our students know there are real people on the other side.

πŸ’» They join live classes.
πŸ™‹ They ask questions.
🧠 They come to extra help.
πŸ‘‹ They meet teachers who actually know how to explain math in a way that clicks.

And yes, we are very aware that "math class" is not usually where kids expect to feel seen.

We like proving them wrong.

Every writing student gets a real human writing coach. ✍️

That is what made us fall in love with Write At Home.

We went looking for the best ELA partner for our students β€” someone to handle writing the way we handle math.

And for homeschool parents, here is the magic part:

πŸ“ No more grading papers
πŸ˜… No more head-butting over essays
πŸ’¬ Real feedback from a real coach
πŸ“ˆ Kids who grow into confident, competent writers

Their co-CEO Melanie's own daughter went through the Write At Home courses.

Today she is a congressional reporter. She writes for a living. πŸ“°

That is the kind of result that makes a partnership easy.

We send our students to them for writing.

They trust us for math.

And parents get one more thing off their plate.
