"My art takes aspects from what I have loved personally, from subjects such as jeans, lettering, feathers, and color palettes, all of which are tastes I have cultivated, and are relevant to my life right now. This year, I have also started working on a tattoo apprenticeship and wanted to merge the idea of tattoos with my art, mostly from tattoo flash sheets, to the bright, bold colors used in them."
Featured work from recent AAS Painting/Drawing alumni, Ayla Ikezawa, from graduating class of 2026! Ikezawa is an award winning student with their work previously featured in galleries like Bow Seat and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. We are happy to honor Ikezawa with the Thomas H. Loughman Memorial Scholarship in 2025-2026.

Last night, the studio came to life with the first Printmaking Night of the season. Hosted by Professor Deb Caponera, participants explored the bold creativity of Linocut β discovering how to carve into linoleum and inking a striking, textured print. It was an evening of experimentation, exchange, and community!
Missed this one? Donβt worry, Printmaking Night happens every last Thursday of the month. Mark your calendars and join us next time for more creativity, community, and prints in the making!
