Stand with Joe! Help his family through this fight 🦁💪

Joe was the captain of our Varsity Football team in 1999 and a standout defensive lineman. He is beloved by his classmates and teammates, his family, and anyone who has the pleasure of calling him a friend.

In August 2024, Joe was diagnosed with Stage IV intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma, a rare and aggressive form of liver cancer. For nearly two years, he fought with incredible strength through relentless treatments, setbacks, and uncertainty. But the cancer has continued to progress. His body is growing weaker, treatments are becoming harder to tolerate, and his prognosis has become heartbreakingly bleak. Unable to work since January 2026, Joe now faces an uncertain financial and insurance future for the family he has always protected.

Through every step of this journey, Mattie—his wife of 15 years, best friend, and absolute rock—has cared for him tirelessly while raising their four children: Anna, Antonio, and 11-year-old twins Lilliana and Joseph. Being a father is Joe’s greatest pride, and all he wants is to guide them, celebrate their milestones, and share in the simple everyday moments. With Joe needing continuous care, Mattie is unable to work full-time, making their primary focus keeping their family supported and together.

LETS GET ROLLIN! JOIN OUR BOCCE LEAGUE 🟢🔴

We are excited to announce our first-ever Monsignor Farrell Alumni & Friends Bocce League. All alumni, friends, and Farrell family are invited to join.

Games will be played each Tuesday evening starting on August 25 through Tuesday September 29th. Games begin at 6:00 pm.

With 5 weeks of regular season games and 1 playoff/end of season party, it’s sure to be a ball!

B**r and snacks will be provided each week and you must be 21 years or older to join. The end of season party will include an Italian BBQ!

The winning team will win a free foursome to our Fall Bocce Classic on Wednesday October 7th ($700 value)

The #1-seeded LIONS face #2 Iona Prep for the CHSFL "AAA" championship today at Fordham University. Kickoff is at 2:30 pm.

The Lions finished the regular season undefeated in the league (6-0) and 9-1 overall, with their lone loss coming in week 3 at Delbarton (NJ).

As the #1 seed in the playoffs, Farrell earned a bye in the first round and then defeated Chaminade 34-3 last week in the semifinal game in The Den. Iona, the defending CHSFL champs, beat St. Anthony's 42-0 in their semifinal matchup.

Saturday's championship game will be a rematch of the week 7 regular season matchup when the Lions beat Iona, the #1-ranked team in NY State, 28-21 at Iona. MaxPreps continues to rank Iona #1 with Farrell #2 in the state, despite their loss to us in October.

This episode features Judge Robert Holdman, Monsignor Farrell Class of 1982. After graduating from Farrell, he earned his undergraduate degree from Fordham University in 1986, and his Juris Doctor from Fordham University School of Law in 1991.

Judge Holdman retired from the New York State Supreme Court, having presided in Brooklyn, Bronx & Westchester County Supreme Courts. He now engages in the general practice of law, which includes corporate governance, criminal defense, and civil litigation, and also maintains a broadly-based consultancy focused on advising businesses, government agencies, high net-worth individuals, and the media on issues of law and ethics.

New Date, Same Spirit: Monsignor Joseph A. Farrell Giving Day is Monday, June 9th! 🙏🦁

Out of respect for the recent passing of Pope Francis, we postponed our annual Giving Day traditionally held on Monsignor Joseph A. Farrell’s birthday April 29th.

This year, we will hold giving day on Monday, June 9th — the anniversary of Monsignor Joseph A. Farrell’s ordination — to celebrate his incredible legacy and support the future of Farrell.

To all of us, Monsignor Farrell means something deeply personal and special — and for our current and future generations, it continues to be a place of purpose, pride, and faith. Your support helps preserve the rich history and values we cherish, while propelling Farrell boldly into the future.

This month, we featured Robert Russo and Jack Armstrong both from the class of 2023 and Frank Caruso from the class of 1974.

Rob and Jack are making waves at their respective colleges and in their respective fields. Rob in sports broadcasting at the University of Florida and Jack as a pre-law student at the University of Michigan.

Frank after his great career at AllianceBernstein, is continuing to make an impact through his work with our Business & Finance Institute.
