The Tiny Tots Playhouse

The Tiny Tots Playhouse Pre-Kindergarten in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn We are a small school where children feel safe and comfortable exploring new ideas and learning new concepts.

The Tiny Tots Playhouse is a family-owned and operated Nursery and Pre-Kindergarten as established in 1936 by Ann Dalmau, better known as Miss Ann. School grounds feature two fenced in play yards to provide children with opportunities to explore their world through hands-on outdoor learning and to participate in physical activity that is essential to healthy development. Our curriculum incorporates the philosophies of Reggio Emilia and Montessori; our students achieve Common Core Learning standards through lessons that combine structured learning and exploratory and purposeful play. We provide care and instruction for students ages 2 years 9 months until 5 years. We are fully licensed and certified from the Department of Education and the Department of Health. In 1999, Director Kim Pomaro partnered with the Department of Ed to provide FREE Universal Pre-Kindergarten services for 4-year old children. Combined, our staff has over 50 years of teaching experience. Our staff is fully licensed and certified. The current staff has worked together for over 30 years, continuing the values and ideals that the school was founded on. Our former students have gone on to become the doctors, lawyers, and business owners that continue to serve the neighborhood today. Many of our former students have returned to enroll their own children or grandchildren. Each remembers the experience they had here and hopes to pass that experience along. This year marks the 79th Anniversary of Tiny Tots! For 79 years we have provided quality education in a nurturing and encouraging learning environment. With your help and support, we can continue to do so for years to come!

It is with great sadness and shock that we share the passing of our beloved Ms. Nini. Our family and our school community have faced a tremendous loss with her passing. Ms. Nini was always eager to lend a hand to those in need. She was an advocate for children and an avid supporter of rescue animals. Ms. Nini had a big heart and often said that working with children gave her purpose. She will be remembered for her fierce determination, tenacious spirit, love of children and animals, quick wit and sense of humor.

As per Ms. Nini’s wishes, no services will be held at this time. Please feel free to share your memories of her in a card or email that can be shared with her son and grandchildren as a tribute to what she meant to so many families throughout her years at Tiny Tots.

At this time, we ask that you respect our family’s privacy while we process this loss.
