Anyone Can Fly Foundation, Inc.
The mission of the Anyone Can Fly Foundation is to expand the art establishment's canon to include Master Artists of the African Diaspora.
The Anyone Can Fly Foundation was founded by artist Faith Ringgold in 1999 to recognize the great masters of African American art born before 1920 and to introduce these masters and their art traditions to children as well as adult audiences. We have created various awards including a Scholars Award, Art With Kids Lesson Plan Awards, Lifetime Achievement Awards, One-of-a-Kind-Awards, Journalist Awards and our most recent is the African-American Masters Legacy Award.

Never will forget my visit to Joyce Scott and her mother who was also an artist many years ago. As I recall they had attached brownstones in Philly. Mother and daughter artists. I was in heaven.
The Serious Joy of Joyce J. Scott’s Beaded Art The decorative allure of Scott’s textile and beaded creations seduces viewers into her sharp critiques of racism, misogyny, and other social ills.
Thanks Dorothy. Beautiful.

Faith Ringgold, artist, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, troublemaker, storyteller, author, activist, history maker, history writer, mentor, and dearest friend you have left your mark on our hearts. We’re all missing you. I Hope you’re with your angels’ telling lies and doing a lot of loving and laughing.
Faith Ringgold passed in her home as she wished in Englewood, NJ on Saturday morning, April 14, 2024. Her daughter, Michele Wallace was with her.
Faith asked for a “whole lot of signing” at her send off. Plans for a memorial will be organized for later this spring.
Faith leaves behind two daughters: Barbara and Michele Wallace, three granddaughters and three great grandsons. She joins her husband, Burdette Ringgold who passed in 2020.
