Can we tell you a secret?

Many of the students we work with aren't actually behind, they're just lacking a little confidence.

We love being able to work with kids one on one because it provides a safe and supportive environment where they can ask questions, get real-time feedback, and not be afraid to speak up.

What does that mean and how is it different from before? 🤔

Starting in the fall of 2026 the SHSAT will be a computer-adaptive test, meaning question difficulty will shift based on student responses.

From the NYC DOE website: At the start of the test, students will see an item or passage set of average difficulty. After the student responds, an initial score estimate will be set.
As students answer more questions, the testing system re-estimates their score in real time based on all of their responses until that point.
If a student answers a question correctly, their estimated score will go up, and they may then receive a more challenging question.
If they answer incorrectly, their estimated score will go down, and the next question may have a lower difficulty level.
All students will answer the same number of questions, and the test will continually adapt the item difficulty level as the student progresses. ✨

💡A 10 minute math habit that keeps skills sharp without anyone calling it homework.

Play a quick round of store. Give your child a small amount of pretend money, let them add up prices, make change, and decide what they can afford. It's real math, real problem solving, and it never once feels like a worksheet.

Ten minutes, a few times a week, is genuinely enough to keep those skills warm through August. 🙂
