Mock Trial is a valuable learning experience perfect for those who are interested in pursuing a career in Law, Business, Government, Criminal Justice, Communications, Science, and even Acting! It places members in a competitive trial setting, allowing for you to get a feel of how the justice system operates. It looks great on your resume and is an absolute MUST for those interested in going to Law

School! Mock trail makes you a member of a team, with that chemistry and dynamic crucial for success. You will compete against colleges across the nation and test your metal against the best. In the past we have competed against teams such as Georgetown, Columbia, NYU, Cornell, among many other worthy opponents and have stood toe to toe with them. Individual perfection is what leads to success in bouts but it is teamwork that leads to championships. Members take on the role of Attorney or Witness. As an attorney you may perform and Opening Statement, Direct Examination, Cross Examination, or Closing Argument. You will gain a mastery of courtroom procedure as well as the rules of evidence. You will become adept in the skill of building a case, and advocating for your client. Witnesses range from entertaining lay witnesses to technical expert witnesses, each requiring a unique skill set. It allows you to develop a character and with a mastery of the facts, take down opposing attorneys. Individual awards are given by the American Mock Trial Association for excellence in your particular role. The season runs in two parts, the invitational season and the regular season. Invitational tournaments are held throughout the fall semester and into early spring across the country.The American Mock Trial Association regular season begins in late January, starting with regional tournaments. There are typically more than 500 teams spread across 22-23 regional tournaments. Each school is limited to two post-regional bids to the "Opening Round National Championships." 192 teams advance to the Opening Round Championship, which is held at eight different tournament sites. The top teams at each Opening Round Championship Tournament qualify for a berth in the National Championship Tournament. There are 48 total bids to the final tournament.

We are excited to announce we are planning to host Pace University’s first mock trial tournament this coming fall, assuming we will be back on campus. We are reaching out to anyone who may be interested in filling the Assistant Event Coordinator position. The Assistant Event Coordinator will help the Event Coordinator plan the tournament, correspond with teams and potential judges, and help run the tournament smoothly. In addition to the Bull & Bear Invitational, the Assistant Event Coordinator will help run the remaining Law Society events for the 2020-2021 year.
