Anastasia Benveniste is an Adelaide-based artist with a practice centred around labour-intensive, highly detailed drawing in classical realism and intricate abstract linework. Inspired by anatomy, patterns and nature, Anastasia’s love of slow, repetitive mark-making and precise technique creates pieces that are both quiet and intense.

My drawings have improved SO MUCH from sketching people in public for 1-5 minutes at a time. It’s super commonly recommended for that reason, and for so many others including it helps teach you gesture, what to prioritise, and how to not over think every line. So many people develop their skill and style this way.

Plus, it has the added benefit of convenience. Finding multiple people to sit for you regularly is certainly a challenge.

BUT even though my drawings are so loose and the people are not identifiable, I still worry/wonder if I’m being a bit invasive or creepy.
