Job Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Educational Coordinator, the Home Visitor functions as the educator to assign pregnant women or children three months through three years of age; promotes each child’s growth and development by planning and implementing developmentally appropriate experiences; creates an environment in which children can develop personal relationships, experiment, make choices, solve problems, and develop age-appropriate social and self-help skills. Plans and participates in parent education and parent involvement activities. Works to maintain a clean, safe, and orderly physical environment. Supports and applies the mission and goals of Dominican Women’s Development Center.
Qualifications:
A minimum CDA or Associate’s degree in ECE or related field, and experience with infant/toddlers in a group setting or home-based setting. Preferred experience in home-based model or Early Head Start setting. Must be bilingual and possess computer knowledge.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Works with an assigned group of pregnant women and infants/toddlers; assesses the individual needs, strengths, and interests regularly.
2. Plans and provides age and developmentally appropriate activities and experiences designed for all areas of a child’s development.
3. Conduct weekly 1.5 hour visits to assigned families.
In accordance with prescribed time schedules, administers initial developmental and other screenings of all assigned children. In collaboration with parents, develops appropriate goals and objectives for each child.
4. Conducts ongoing assessment of each child’s growth and development and updates each child’s goals and objectives regularly.
5. Utilizes developmental screening and observations to identify children who may need additional services; informs educational coordinator of the potential need.
6. Participates in case management meetings, child study team meetings, IFSP meetings, and other related activities. Incorporates IFSP goals and objectives into the home base program.
7. Provides training and guidance for parents and other volunteers; Makes a minimum of weekly home visits with each child’s family and holds 3 parent conferences each year.
8. Serves as a facilitator during socialization groups.
9. Performs other job-related tasks as required.
