Primary and secondary roads have been cleared in the community, and the campus has been plowed.
It's Move-In Day All Over Again! Welcome Back Everyone!
HURRICANE UPDATE — THURSDAY, NOV. 1, 2:30 P.M.
Good afternoon, Wagner College community.
The campus is still closed, although we are progressively bringing more and more elements of the campus back to life as the hours pass. The electrical contractor is on campus, as well as the tree service.
MONDAY is the day when classes will start again.
MONDAY — not Friday — is when campus offices will open again.
SUNDAY is when we will welcome back those dorm residents who went home last weekend to ride out Hurricane Sandy.
STUDENTS: PLEASE DO NOT RETURN TO CAMPUS BEFORE SUNDAY.
WHY DO WE ASK THIS?
For several reasons:
(1) Power has been restored to much of the campus — BUT NOT ALL.
(2) Crews are still clearing downed trees and debris throughout campus.
(3) And, while we have adequate staff, food and supplies for the population currently on campus who stayed with us through the hurricane, we cannot accommodate any more people until Sunday.
PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM CAMPUS UNTIL SUNDAY. If you return before then, you will be jeopardizing the safety and services for those on campus now.
President Guarasci has personally been overseeing the recovery process at Wagner College. He encourages students to use this time off to study, work on papers or prepare for exams — we will have a lot to make up when classes resume on Monday!
Reminder: The registration schedule has been set back one week. If you have questions about registration next week, please talk with your faculty adviser or visit the Registrar’s Office.
THANK YOU for your cooperation, and thank you for the many kind notes you have sent us via email and Facebook throughout the crisis.
We will continue to update you each day on the status of the college until we are back on a normal schedule. We will try to use broadcast email, but the email system is not yet operating at 100% efficiency and we may not be able to use it for another day or two. The college website appears to be fully operational, and our access to Facebook has not been compromised at any time throughout the current crisis.
We will post our next update Friday afternoon (Nov. 2).
