Actor Lawrence Gilliard Jr brings more than thirty years of professional, working-actor experience in theatre, film, and television to this essential three hour intensive designed for actors who are new to professional sets or who want to feel confident, prepared, and unshakeable on Day One.

Known for his unforgettable work on The Wire, The Walking Dead, The Deuce, Gangs of New York, Army Wives, and many more, Lawrence offers something few classes can, the unspoken rules of the film and television set, taught by someone who has lived them for decades.This intensive is available in person at the Studio or on Zoom and is built to answer the questions most actors are afraid to ask until it is too late.

An introduction to Sanford Meisner's approach to developing acting technique. This acting class is a step-by-step progression of acting exercises that develop the actor's ability to work organically, creating truthful, expressive behavior in acting. The acting class covers the beginning Meisner techniques from word repetition through their first application to a scene and serves as a studio audition for people new to acting. Upon its successful completion the actor may be invited to continue training at the Studio. The class requires a one-hour, outside-of-class practice session with a partner in between each class; and is comprised of three groups: 1) people with prior acting experience/training; 2) professional actors; 3) serious beginners. The nature of the work makes it a level training ground. This class is also favorite acting class of film directors and writers and it is by far the best acting class for beginners in New York City.

Creative Reset w/Andrea Navedo - Online New York City acting school -- Acting classes and actor training in a private, New York City, studio environment

From Founding Studio Director, James Price:

I am proud to announce that four alumni of The Acting Studio New York will be appearing together in McManus, Fall of a Tyrant, written and directed by Randy Neale (Fools Lear).
The production features Studio alum and Artistic Director of Nomad Theatre Company, grant Grant Neale, alongside LeeAnne Hutchison, who recently made her Broadway debut, and two graduates of our 2022 Conservatory, Alex Wade and Micahel Michael Kowalski.

I look forward to seeing this new work by a wonderful playwright and to witnessing these accomplished alumni together on stage. I return to New York from abroad just in time to attend the performances.

McManus, Fall of a Tyrant will be presented in a limited engagement at La MaMa, May 14 through May 17.
