Today and every day, we remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice. This Memorial Day, we look back at the WAVES — Women Accepted for Voluntary Emergency Service, a division of the Armed Forces instituted by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. 🇺🇸

During World War II, nearly 81,000 women were trained as decoders, navigators, and mechanics on Lehman’s campus, which was then known as Hunter in the Bronx. They were the first women who could serve in the American military.
