Ascend Schools Ascend Charter Schools enroll more than 5,000 students in 17 Brooklyn-based elementary, middle, and high schools. Applications for Fall 2026 are open!

Ascend Public Charter Schools is a network of seventeen K-12 public charter schools in Brooklyn, New York. Our schools are located in Brownsville, Bushwick, Canarsie, Flatbush, Cypress Hills, and East Brooklyn. Ascend exists to serve every student – to help them embody their inherent excellence by providing rich, joyful learning experiences that unlock a life of boundless choice. Our schools do this by honoring, nurturing, and challenging the whole child. We foster critical thinking skills and a love of learning through our inquiry-based learning approach, Responsive Classroom model, and anti-racist education. We are deeply committed to advancing educational equity for all of our students.

The ceremony also introduced a new Latin motto from Chief of High School Danique Day: Fac Bonum. Esto Bonus. In Mundo Nostro. Do Good. Be Good. In Our World.

A new school year and a new tradition at Brooklyn Ascend High School!

This morning, BAHS students received their new school blazers as a symbol of pride, belonging, and high expectations. Our seniors received their blazers first, then helped members of the freshman class put on theirs, welcoming them into the BAHS community.

Together, the blazers represent the community we’re building at BAHS: one grounded in excellence, character, leadership, and responsibility to one another.
