As of 2019, a staggering 5.25 trillion pieces of plastic littered the ocean. Not only does this impact marine life, but larger pieces of marine debris are responsible for approximately 10,000 shipping containers falling into the ocean each year. Could robots be the key to reversing this alarming trend? While roadblocks remain, aquatic robots are making an impact.

Imagine if AI could detect road rage before it turns into potentially dangerous driving. As cars come equipped with an increasingly vast array of sensors, researchers are exploring ways to use the human voice to sense if drivers are too angry to take the wheel. Though initial tests show a promising 95% accuracy rate, it’s unclear whether we’ll see this technology used in real-world applications due to legal and ethical concerns.
