Framing Visions, Sharing Voices: TWN's Exhibition Showcase | Third World Newsreel 05/27/2026

📽️ Chicago, San Francisco, Cleveland! Don't miss the restoration of A LITANY FOR SURVIVAL: THE LIFE AND WORK OF AUDRE LORDE, the most comprehensive portrait of the legendary feminist and self-described "Black, le***an, mother, warrior, poet" ever committed to film.

In a cultural moment when Black and q***r histories face systemic erasure—over 20,000 books banned in the last few years, 403 university DEI programs dismantled, federal agencies have stripped LGBTQIA+ terminology from public documents—this preservation is a political necessity.

💫 Upcoming Screenings:
African Diaspora International Film Festival, Chicago – June 5, 6:00 PM
International Q***r Women of Color Film Festival, San Francisco – June 14, 4:00 PM
Sistah Sinema, Cleveland – June 14

"Tenderly tracing the life of poet Audre Lorde, the film cracks open life’s poetry guided by Lorde’s sincere belief more and better is possible if we envision it enough to will it into existence."‍ —Black Film Archives

The preservation as resistance campaign, including the restoration of the film A LITANY FOR SURVIVAL, is supported by Color Congress, through its Elev8Docs Marketing Initiative.

More than 20,000 Latino families were displaced to make way for Lincoln Center, home to the Metropolitan Opera and the New York Symphony. This film examines the patrons of art" complex (corporations and wealthy families) and the culture displayed there. Juxtaposing the atmosphere of Lincoln Center with the vibrant street culture of a displaced neighborhood, the film correctly predicts the process by which the West Side was to be turned into a high-rent area for the upper middle class.
