Our kids got a fine motor skills workout using pipettes to make some beautiful watercolor art. These will eventually be a part of the Halloween/Día de los Mu***os costume they’ll be making. Shhhhh... it’s a sorpresa :-) immersion

For fall we do lots of pumpkin and squash related art. Painting is just one of the ways in which we treat our seasonal veggies:-).
From the Sunbridge Institute's Page:
"Young children from birth to age seven live primarily through their senses and learn best through imitation. Striving to be figures worthy of imitation, Waldorf early childhood educators nurture each child’s flowering, providing gentle, yet sensory rich environments and play-based activities that encourage the young child to investigate the natural world, explore social relationships, and expand imaginative capacities. These activities lay crucial foundations for intellectual, emotional, and physical development."
Waldorf makes sense! and in combination with exposure to Spanish it is simply a beautiful way of engaging children. We certainly put our own unique spin on Waldorf in La Casa Azul, but to nurture children in their growth is certainly a focus and one that aligns with Waldorf education nicely.

Woven protection for our littlest sprouts. Natural materials just always seem so beautiful. In our backyard and deck, the children have lunch on the picnic table or deck table, explore planting seeds, look at the red worms in our compost, or the honeycombs made by the bees who live on the beehives in our roof, and other activities that nurture their curiosity and instill respect for nature’s rhythms and natural materials.
