Through art, fashion, poetry, comedy, and community service the African Heritage Month Planning Committee of 2017 intends to share and embrace the many facets of the African Diaspora, its history and culture.

LOOKING FOR ARTISTS (POETS, SPOKEN WORD, STORYTELLERS)

Join AHM as we kick off the month with an Arts Showcase to celebrate oral storytelling traditions practiced throughout the continent of Africa! Learn about the centuries-old history of Griots and the role it plays in today’s world, and hear from well-known contemporary artists and student artists!

We are looking for student spoken word artist, story tellers, singers, and musicians share their talents! We are encouraging folks to share pieces surrounding African history (in and outside of the continent), African Diaspora (past and present), African American History. However, it is completely up to you to decide what you would like to share with the audience.

African Students Union at NYUwill be hosting their annual fashion show tomorrow at 6pm in Grand Hall. It is guaranteed to be a wonderful night of music, art, fashion and culture. The talented Laolu NYC will be presenting his designs so COME THRU!
