π What an inspiring evening at the Food Ed Coalition's 5th Annual Awards Ceremony! Despite last-minute changes due to NYC educator union negotiations, over 60 supporters gathered virtually and in-person at Teachers College to celebrate food education heroes.
Council Member Gale Brewer kicked off the night, and we honored outstanding advocates in the NYC food and nutrition education scene. These champions are transforming how we teach and think about food! π±

π This past Juneteenth, Black Americans across the country reimagined traditional holiday menus to honor their diverse cultural heritage! From chef-hosted cookouts in Brooklyn to family "noon-teenth" gatherings in Nashville, this year's Juneteenth tables beautifully blended West African, Caribbean, and Southern American cuisines. Food served as a powerful bridge connecting history, identity, and community, honoring ancestors while educating the next generation.
