STUDENT TEACHERS
LEARNING IN THE MAKING

May 4 - 20, 2026
Family Friendly Hours:
Saturday, May 16, 12-2pm
Sunday, May 17, 2-4pm

We end the semester with a show of vibrant children’s artwork. The MA in Art and Art Education with Initial Certification class of 26 have installed work done in New York City classrooms from their own lessons. On display is art in a range of media from K-12 students, alongside examples of the student teachers’ own artistic practice.
Teacher and student explorations and expressions come together for this annual capstone exhibition celebrating work that begins here in the Art and Art Education Program, and extends out into the imaginations and work of children across the city.
This exhibition launches a series of shows over the next two months featuring children’s artwork, bringing these young voices to the Macy Art Gallery.

March 30-April 16, 2026
Reception: April 2, 5-7pm, RSVP link in bio

Hosted by the Art and Art Education Program at Teachers College, Columbia University, Conversations Across Cultures is an annual symposium that brings together artists, curators, scholars, educators, social workers, and other interested professionals from around the world to consider critical issues of our time.
Assuming that solutions to problems are more fully enlightened when tackled through collaboration, this year’s workshop format invited participants to inquire into how we construct new knowledge, engage in new practice, and guide each other forward with sensitivity.
Join us for an exhibition featuring the processes and reflections that emerged.
