Interesting, relevant article concerning NYC gentrification and its subsequent displacement of people of color and low-income populations.
We'll be discussing these issues and more on Sunday, March 1st (1:30PM) at the SI MakerSpace!

Gentrification May Be Complicated, But It's Not a Myth and Neither Is Displacement
Gentrification does lead to displacement, and over time, a vastly different neighborhood composition, as demographic change in several New York neighborhoods illustrates.

We are happy to announce Ron Lissak, Executive Vice President of Indaba Health and Wellness, LLC., as a panelist in our Queens event! Join us on March 7th (6:30PM) at QNS Collective - Coworking In Queens as we discuss innovative solutions to healthcare accessibility for NYC's low-income, minority, and immigrant populations.

By providing personalized behavior & wellness plans as well as cost-effective strategies, Indaba Health and Wellness LLC is working to make healthcare more affordable for everyone. Come hear what innovative solutions they're engaging to expand healthcare access!

We are honored to be joined by Green City Force Founder and Executive Director Lisbeth Shepard on February 28th (1PM) at the Brooklyn Fashion & Design Accelerator. Come join the discussion on solving the local unemployment crisis!
Did You Know? Unemployment rates are staggeringly higher among young adults (ages 16-24) than among their age 25+ counterparts. In January 2014, 15% of youth ages 16-24 seeking work were unemployed, compared to 7.3% of all workers (NY Times).
Green City Force is working to change that. By providing urban young adults in poverty with service, training, and work experiences in the green energy economy, Green City Force is driving positive social impact both economically and ecologically.

Green City Force - Welcome to Green City Force
Green City Force is an AmeriCorps program that engages young people from low income backgrounds in national service related to the environment. In doing so, we prepare them for sustainable careers, while reducing green-house gas emissions and building the green city we want to see.
