The Mississippi Project at CUNY School of Law condemns the
horrific and racist attack against Hopewell Baptist
Church, a black church in Greenville, Mississippi. We are
disheartened that officials have rushed to the conclusion
that this was not politically or racially motivated and
have decided to investigate this as a hate crime only as
it pertains to voter intimidation rather than race.
Greenville is an area that has suffered this sort of
racial violence before and its residents recognize when it
happens today. We send our comrades struggling in
Greenville love and strength and urge the community to
look out for one another especially in this time of racial
hatred, manipulation, and fearmongering.

With love,
2016 delegation
