Wow beautiful night sky 🌌

Weekend over! Anyone else feel a little relief when Sunday night comes?

This weekend we’ve dealt with torrential rain, 2 soccer games, 3 soccer practices, 2 Bar-mitzvahs, a METS game, The Paw Patrol movie, a birthday party, The Ryder Cup (highest stress of the lot) and lots of homework. I don’t think I sat down for a minute 🤦🏻‍♀️

Looking forward to the week ahead. I’m meeting several new families in need of sleep help and continuing to work with clients from the last couple of weeks. Love seeing the results and the positive changes that affect the whole family ❤️

How was your weekend? Xo

To achieve good quality night time sleep it’s essential babies and children have their day time needs met.

This doesn’t mean you have to spend all day giving attention to your child but try to at least 15 minutes of 1:1 focused attention before bedtime (to each child, even teens!) to talk about the day and/or read stories and connect before bedtime.

Additionally making sure kids have eaten well at dinner is key to sleeping well. Try to include protein in the meal and if it’s an early dinner you can offer a snack or milk before bed. Do not offer milk in the night after age 6 months (you can stop much earlier too) as this will become a habit and stop babies eating everything they need during daytime hours.

Let me know any questions 💜

Sweet dreams 💕💕💕

Do you use black out blinds? If you have an early riser, blocking out the light can add an extra hour of sleep on in the morning. Light leads to the reduction of melatonin (sleep hormone) production which then wakes the body up.

My daughter tried a face mask and fell asleep with it on. I didn’t feel comfortable with her keeping it on all night as it looked a little tight so I’d recommend the black out curtains or blinds instead!

Are you struggling to keep your kids in their beds?

This is one of my areas of specialty and have some techniques to gently keep kids in their own beds ALL night 🌃

This was 2 of my kids spotted in my bed on vacation. I do not worry when I’m away as I know once I get home I implement strategies to get everyone back in their sleep routine 😴 which is beneficial for the whole family ❤️

It’s all about gentle sleep training with me 💕

You wouldn’t believe how many parents still want to “teach” their kids to sleep by locking doors, shouting and trying to scare their kids into sleeping better.

Instead, I encourage families to gently break night waking by
1. Staying with the child for a number of days to help reassure them and break the habit of night time attention
2. Stop talking about sleep with a child. A subject that gets attention will encourage the child to repeat whatever behaviour they are doing, even if it’s getting negative attention

3. Ensure the child is not catching up during the day for lost sleep 💤

Please put any questions or comments below. I’d love to hear from you

FUN ❤️

I love this cover of as it made me realise how many of my clients were initially worried that a routine would take the FUN out of parenting. That they’d be confined to a strict schedule, barely being able to leave the house. In fact it’s the complete OPPOSITE 🥰

Having a schedule means babies and young children are more settled and able to enjoy activities without being overtired. It also allows you to plan ahead so you know you can have that 🍷 or ☕️ while little one will be napping or asleep at home. You will also be able to book playgates & classes knowing when your little one will be awake. You aren’t leaving things to chance, you are planning ahead so you can plan FUN.

I’ll always help you plan activities rather than cancel them as good mental state is KEY to parenting and kids need to understand flexibility within the confines of a schedule 🥰Please drop questions below ❤️
